In one seven-day window in March 2026, the United States experienced a sequence of weather events so statistically improbable that seasoned climatologists are struggling to find words adequate enough to describe them.
Fifty-two inches of snow buried communities in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Eight tornadoes tore through Illinois in a single afternoon. A heat dome pushed Arizona temperatures to 112 degrees Fahrenheit in early spring. Nearly fifty inches of rain flooded Hawaii. A bomb cyclone hammered the Northeast with hurricane-force winds. Historic wildfires consumed western Nebraska. Thundersnow and flash flooding hit the Midwest simultaneously.
Seven distinct, record-breaking weather events. One week. One nation.
For the climatologist, this is an anomaly demanding new models. For the student of biblical prophecy, this is something else entirely. This is a pattern. And that pattern has a name.
The Bible calls it the Beginning of Sorrows.
I personally believe the beginning of sorrows began with Covid-19 in 2020. Things have never gotten back to normal and events seem to be accelerating even faster each year.
Why the Frequency Matters More Than the Severity
Here is the first thing I want you to understand, because most people get this backwards.
When Jesus described the conditions that would precede His return, He did not say the events themselves would be unprecedented in isolation. Floods have always happened.
Tornadoes have always touched down. Heat waves have scorched the earth throughout recorded history.
What He described was a convergence. A clustering. An acceleration.
When the disciples asked Him directly on the Mount of Olives, “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” His answer in Matthew 24:7-8 was precise.
“For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
That phrase, beginning of sorrows, is the key that unlocks this entire conversation. The Greek word translated as sorrows is odin. It does not mean sadness or tragedy in a general sense. It is the specific, clinical term for the birth pangs of a woman in active labor.
Any mother who has given birth will tell you the same thing. It is not the pain alone that signals the birth is imminent. It is the acceleration. The contractions begin far apart and manageable. Then they draw closer. Then they overlap. Then they become nearly indistinguishable from one another because there is no longer space between them.
That is precisely what we witnessed in the last week of March 2026. Not seven isolated weather events. Seven overlapping contractions with almost no separation between them.
That is not a climate model. That is a birth announcement.
A Brief Word on Evidence
I want to be transparent about my methodology before we go further, because intellectual honesty matters.
I approach biblical prophecy the same way a forensic investigator approaches a crime scene. I am not asking you to accept anything on blind faith. I am asking you to examine the evidence and follow it wherever it leads.
Consider the prophecy of Tyre in Ezekiel 26, written around 590 BC. The prophet declared that Nebuchadnezzar would destroy the city, that its stones and timber would be thrown into the sea, that it would become a bare rock, a place for the spreading of fishing nets, and that it would never be rebuilt. Historians initially mocked this prophecy because Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the mainland city but the island portion survived. Then Alexander the Great arrived in 332 BC. He scraped the rubble of the mainland city into the sea to build a causeway to the island, fulfilling to the letter the prediction that its stones and timber would be cast into the sea. The island city was destroyed. It became a bare rock where fishermen spread their nets to this day.
The odds of that specific, multi-part prophecy fulfilling itself by accident are not a matter of faith. They are a matter of mathematics.
I tell you this because I want you to understand that when I reference Matthew 24 or Luke 21 in connection with what happened last week, I am not engaging in spiritual wishful thinking. I am following the same evidentiary logic. The Bible has earned the right to be taken seriously as a prophetic document.
With that established, let us look at the seven events.
Event One: The 52-Inch Blizzard in Michigan
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan received 52 inches of snow in a 48-hour period. Infrastructure collapsed. Communities were isolated. The event set records that forecasters described as generational.
In Job 37:6, the scripture reads plainly: “For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.”
The Book of Job, which many scholars consider the oldest written text in the Bible, describes weather as an instrument of divine communication. The question worth asking is not only whether 52 inches of snow in 48 hours is unusual. The question is whether it is part of a pattern of escalating intensity across multiple simultaneous systems.
The answer, based on last week alone, is yes.
Event Two: Eight Tornadoes in a Single Sunday in Illinois
Eight tornadoes touched down across Illinois in one afternoon. Illinois is no stranger to severe weather, but the density of touchdowns within a single pressure system event was extraordinary.
Nahum 1:3 states: “The LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.”
The geographic diversity of these touchdowns maps directly onto the phrase Jesus used in Matthew 24:7, “in divers places.” The signs are not concentrated in one location. They are scattered, simultaneous, and overlapping. That is the pattern of accelerating birth pains, not the pattern of ordinary seasonal weather cycles.
Event Three: The Arizona Heat Dome at 112 Degrees
While Michigan was buried in snow, Arizona recorded temperatures of 112 degrees Fahrenheit. In early spring. That is not a summer heat wave arriving early. That is summer-peak heat occurring in a season that should still be cool by any historical standard.
Prophecy students often reference Revelation 16:8 when discussing extreme heat, which describes a time during the Tribulation period when men are scorched with great heat. I want to be careful here and intellectually precise. We are not currently in the Tribulation. That seven-year period has not yet begun.
But what we are seeing are what I call pre-shocks. The planet appears to be calibrating toward conditions that the prophetic texts describe as fully realized during the Tribulation. The direction of travel matters even before the destination is reached.
Event Four: 50 Inches of Rain in Hawaii
The Kona Low weather system dropped nearly 50 inches of rain on parts of Hawaii, triggering catastrophic flooding and damages estimated in the billions of dollars.
Jesus spoke directly to this category of event in Luke 21:25: “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.”
The word perplexity in the original Greek is aporia. It means a problem for which there is no exit. No solution. No path through. The flooding of island communities represents exactly this kind of governmental and infrastructural aporia. The waves are roaring and there is no policy, no program, and no international agreement that has been able to stop them.
Event Five: The Bomb Cyclone in the Northeast
This happened in my neck of the woods. I live inland in Maine and we had some big wind gusts and rain, but the coast got hit much harder.
Bombogenesis is the technical term for what happened when a rapidly intensifying low-pressure system hit the Northeast with sustained hurricane-force winds. The atmospheric pressure dropped so fast that meteorologists coined a name that sounds almost theatrical.
It is not theatrical. It is violent.
Isaiah 29:6 speaks of a time when the Lord visits with “storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.” The simultaneous presence of a bomb cyclone in the Northeast, wildfires in Nebraska, and a heat dome in Arizona within the same 72-hour window represents exactly the kind of overlapping, simultaneous, multi-system judgment language that the prophets used.
Event Six: Nebraska’s Largest Wildfire in History
The record winds generated by these colliding pressure systems created fire conditions across western Nebraska that produced the state’s largest wildfire on record. In March. Before summer has even arrived.
Isaiah 24:4-6 reads: “The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away… The inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.”
The soil conditions that allowed a March spark to become a historic inferno are not separate from the drought conditions, the heat patterns, and the wind systems described in the other six events. They are connected. That connection is the point.
Event Seven: Thundersnow and Flash Floods in the Midwest
Thundersnow in Minnesota. Flash flooding in Chicago. Simultaneous. Within hours of each other. In the same region.
This is weather whiplash, a term meteorologists now use regularly, which itself tells you something has shifted. When a technical vocabulary has to be invented to describe a phenomenon, that phenomenon is new.
Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”
The Greek word translated perilous is chalepos. It means violent, hard to bear, and dangerously unpredictable. It is the same word used in Matthew 8:28 to describe the two violent demoniacs whom no one could pass by. When Paul used this word to describe the conditions of the last days, he was not predicting difficult politics alone. He was describing a violent, unpredictable, hard-to-bear atmosphere in every dimension of human life, including the physical world.
We are living in chalepos times.
The Convergence Is Bigger Than the Weather
Here is what makes last week genuinely significant from a prophetic standpoint, and what separates a serious analysis from simple weather commentary.
The seven weather events did not occur in isolation from the broader global picture. They occurred simultaneously with the following developments.
In the same week, geopolitical tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran escalated to levels that analysts are describing as the most dangerous flash point in years. That maps directly onto the “wars and rumours of wars” of Matthew 24:6 and the specific Gog-Magog alliance framework described in Ezekiel 38.

In the same week, the global push for Central Bank Digital Currencies accelerated, with two major economies announcing pilot programs. That brings the infrastructure for the system described in Revelation 13:17, where “no man might buy or sell” without a specific mark of authorization, measurably closer to operational reality.

The weather is the alarm clock. The geopolitics and the economics are the reason the alarm is ringing.
A world that dismisses extreme weather as merely a climate problem while simultaneously ignoring the collapsing global order, the rising surveillance economy, and the increasing isolation of Israel is a world that is, to use Jesus’s own word, asleep.
What About the Climate Change Argument?
I want to address this directly because it is the objection every honest person in this conversation should be raising.
Modern science attributes the intensity and frequency of these events to climate change, specifically to jet stream instability caused by differential warming between the Arctic and lower latitudes. I do not dismiss this explanation. In fact, I think it may be entirely accurate as a description of the physical mechanism.
Here is the critical point that most people miss. The Bible does not require that the birth pains happen without natural causes. It simply predicts that they will happen, that they will accelerate, and that they will converge with other global signs in a way that becomes unmistakable to anyone paying attention.
Peter warned specifically about the skeptical response we see today. In 2 Peter 3:4, he wrote that people would say, “Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.”
But all things are not continuing as they were. The statistical probability of seven simultaneous, record-breaking, geographically diverse weather events occurring in one week is effectively negligible by any actuarial standard. Adding the simultaneous geopolitical and economic developments reduces that probability further toward zero.
The uniformitarian assumption, the idea that everything continues as normal, is precisely what Peter said would characterize the thinking of people in the last days. And it is precisely what the evidence refutes.

Jesus was explicit about His purpose in giving these signs. He was not trying to frighten people into paralysis. He was giving his followers a navigational tool, a way to understand their moment in history so they could respond with clarity rather than confusion.
In Luke 21:28, He said: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
Look up. Not down in despair. Not sideways in panic. Up. With expectation.
Romans 8:22 tells us that “the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.” The earth itself is participating in a process that has a beginning, a middle, and a very specific end. That end is not extinction. It is not climate collapse. It is the return of Jesus Christ, the redemption of creation, and the establishment of His kingdom.
The birth pains are real. But birth pains exist for one reason. Because something is about to be born.
The question I want to leave you with is not whether these events are prophetically significant. Based on the evidence, I believe the case for that is compelling. The question is a personal one.
When the birth happens, when the next major prophetic event on the timeline, the Rapture of the Church, occurs, and the followers of Jesus Christ are removed from this earth in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye as 1 Corinthians 15:52 describes it, where will you be?
That is not a rhetorical question designed to frighten you. It is the most important logistical question you will ever answer.
